Symposium: Youth Protection in Esports

On Monday, July 31, 2023, the Research Center for Esports Law organized a joint symposium with the University of Vienna and the law firm STADLER VÖLKEL Rechtsanwälte on the topic of "Youth Protection in Esports" at the University of Vienna (in the Juridicum Vienna). 


Moderated by Prof. Dr. Christian Piska, the following presentations were held:


  • 5.15 p.m. - 5.30 p.m.: Minor Esports professionals by Prof. Dr. Martin Maties
  • 5.30 p.m. - 5.45 p.m.: Suspended invalid legal transactions with focus on microtransactions by Mag. Urim Bajrami
  • 5.45 p.m. - 6.00 p.m.: The significance of the USK rating for Esports by Simon Püschel
  • 6.00 p.m. - 6.15 p.m.: Media critical to minors and age ratings in Austria by Dr. Patrick Petschinka
  • 6.15 p.m.: Panel discussion regarding the presentations


Afterwards there was a small get together with a buffet.
